Born in West Tennessee and currently living in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee, it is my pleasure to be involved with Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina. I have worked in the social service fields of children’s services and community-based education of adults with disabilities. Fun fact: One of the community-based locations was the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Zoo where the adults with disabilities were cleaning enclosures. So, I have taught people how to shovel rhino poo into bags for “Zoo Doo” sales.
I currently work in higher education as an administrator and adjunct Instructor. In all of my work worlds, people have been at the center – all types of people. My greatest reward is helping an individual to have a more joyful and meaningful life via my work interactions and courses. I have focused the majority of those special topics courses on the vital role interacting with nature plays in our total wellness and happiness. In helping them be happier and healthier, I hope to create more compassionate stewards of our Mother Earth.
I have made it a mission to install that love and respect for nature in my son who, like me, finds his true center when out in the wildwoods and splashing in water.
