Having grown up in the suburbs of Chicago, I didn’t have much experience with nature. That is, until my college years, when I attended an off-campus study program in the Cascade mountains in southern Oregon. For a semester, a small handful of classmates and I lived in small cabins without TV, Internet, or cell phones, and we hiked, camped, and studied together.

That experience stretched me far out of my comfort zone and gave me the confidence to later travel abroad. I have since visited over 50 countries and called Seoul, Helsinki, and Bristol, England home.

When it was time for me to move back to the US, the mountains of North Carolina were calling. I now live in Hendersonville with my British rescue dog where there is no shortage of waterfalls and gorgeous places to explore!
