Meet Our New Junior Keepers Coordinator

May 9, 2023

We’re thrilled to introduce Lorna Ravinski as our new Junior Keepers Coordinator!

Lorna grew up in a small town in Minnesota, “the land of 10,000 lakes”, where she developed an early love and appreciation for nature and outdoor activities – swimming, boating, camping, and walking in the woods. Although her careers, first in early childhood education and later as a Compliance Consultant for the financial services industry, kept her mostly indoors five days a week, she always looked forward to outdoor activities on the weekends.

Lorna and her husband tired of the long MN winters twenty years ago and she feels so fortunate that they were drawn to the beautiful mountains and waterfalls of western North Carolina. Fully retired now, she’s able to enjoy hiking and seeking out waterfalls every week with a hiking group from her community. She also volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem, a child advocate for abused and neglected children in Henderson County.

Lorna says she’s happy to be part of the WKNC team and hopes to help instill a love of waterfalls in our Junior Keepers so they can both enrich their lives and continue the effort to protect and preserve these valuable natural resources.
